There is some raving on this, the latest CD by Will Putman. There's also some ranting. There's a wild ride in a stolen car, a brawl in a small Montana saloon, a 15 hour road trip with a boy playing Boil them Cabbage Down on the mandolin the whole way. There's a raft trip in the Grand Canyon, a walk down a rainy Juneau street, plenty of reflection on the state of the world and our town and there's even a beer recipe. And one thing's for sure, you won't be finding this on sale at Walmart any time soon. Some songs are serious and some dark while others are funny or quirky. The music style ranges from Folk to Rock to Old-Timey and back again.
All the songs on the CD were written by Will except for a collaboration
with Trudy (Boatmen) and a poem by Vaughn Short (Seldom Seen) that Will puts to music.
Will plays guitar, fiddle, mandolin and harmonica on this CD. Other contributing musicians include Trudy Heffernan (upright bass and
harmony vocals) Pat
Fitzgerald (drums), Robin Dale Ford (bass and banjo), Alex Clarke (lap steel
guitar and electric guitar), Molly "Cannonball" Putman (saxophone),
Liam Putman (mandolin on his song) and Shonti Elder (fiddle on "Blue Goose
Saloon"). The beautiful artwork is by
Molly. The CD was recorded and
mixed at 10th Planet Recording somewhere near Fairbanks Alaska.
